Volunteer Opportunities

Students, please see the link below for community service and volunteer programs available.   These opportunities are valuable for your resume as well as required community service hours in senior year.

Volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies in Rockland County, which rely entirely on volunteers, respond to thousands of emergencies each year. These agencies face a critical need to recruit and retain members. To help, the county has introduced a recruitment and retention program offering college tuition reimbursement to volunteers. Volunteers who meet service requirements in a local fire department or EMS agency and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher are eligible for reimbursement. The H.E.R.R.O. program, managed by the Office of Fire and Emergency Services, offers up to $3,000 per semester (max $6,000 annually). Applicants must be active members for at least one year and maintain required activity levels.
