Zero Waste Pumpkins

Zero Waste Pumpkins

Mrs. Conway's Systems and Sustainability class wrapped up their unit on composting with a "Zero-Waste" pumpkin carving project.  Students separated the pulp for their class compost bin and had to create a design illustrating items that are compostable. The seeds were collected, some are drying to plant in the spring, and the rest were shared with Mrs. Tomaselli's Gourmet Cooking Class to be roasted.  After Halloween, the pumpkins were taken into the woods for the deer and other animals to eat.
